I have been trying to think of a theme for my sweet sixteen for a while now too, even though it is a long time away. I really like the theme of hollywood, but that was what we did for our eighth grade dance. Another good one is a masquerade ball, or like a murder mystery type of thing. A murder mystery might be kind of complicated though, and not everyone has a mask on hand for a masquerade. People might be kind of mad that they have to go out and buy one. Where would one even go to purchase a mask? I was going to ask people from different schools for ideas so that they haven't been done already in this school, or search around on the internet for themes.

As for getting your friend a present, it depends on how well you know this person. If you feel like you know their style well then get them jewelry, and even if you don't know it very well you can get them something classic that almost everyone likes, like a Tiffany heart necklace (if you feel like spending $100). I wouldn't get an American Express card becasue its not very personal, but if i wasn't very close friends with the person then it is fine.

Sweet Sixteen Party Ideas

In May I am turning sixteen. I know it is a little early but a bunch of my friends are already planning their sweet sixteen parties and I figured it would be a good idea to start planning now. The only thing is I have no idea what type of theme to do. For example, my friend in the summer had a dress up sweet sixteen party and the other day one of my other friends came up with the idea of a Saydes Hawkins Dance theme where you would invite all your friends that are girls and they would invite a boy to come with them, this way the ratio between guys and girls are equal. I was also thinking that maybe instead of having a party I would just do something smaller with a group of my good friend. Does anyone have any ideas or opinions?

Also, I am going to a sweet sixteen party this Saturday for one of my really good friends but I am not sure what to get her. She really likes jewlery and her favorite store is JCrew. I do not think that jewlery is a good idea though because she might like different types of jewlery than me and I do not want to get her something she does not like. I was thinking one of those American Express gift cards that you can spend on anything would be good but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a gift that I can actually give her instead of just a gift card?
